To raise awareness about safety, Dharav High School organized an engaging activity for children in Pre Nursery to Grade 2 on 8th November, 2024. The activity covered essential safety topics in a way that was both informative and easy for young children to understand. The session began with short, age-appropriate PPT and video covering safety rules. Emphasizing safe practices at home - like not touching electrical outlets, staying away from hot surfaces, and asking for help when needed. Basic road safety was introduced, such as crossing the street with an adult, following traffic signals etc.
Through sensitive guidance, the school counselor, Ms. Anamika discussed the important difference between good touch and bad touch. This was aimed at empowering children to understand personal boundaries and to encourage them to speak up if they feel uncomfortable. Along with this, the concept of a “buddy” versus a “bully” was introduced to help children identify positive friendships and understand unacceptable behaviors. Children learned to distinguish these behaviors and were encouraged to seek help if they encountered bullying.
To reinforce their understanding, the children completed worksheets on each topic. The teachers got an opportunity to review each child’s comprehension of the safety concepts.
The safety rules activity was a meaningful session that taught students essential life skills. Principal Ma'am Ritu Sharma encouraged the students to follow the safety measures.
