“READING SHOULD NOT BE PRESENTED TO CHILDREN AS A CHORE OR DUTY. IT SHOULD BE OFFERED AS A PRECIOUS GIFT.”
Reading changes lives through a love of books. Our mission at Dharav High School is to promote reading for pleasure, keeping this in view a DEAR activity (Drop Everything And Read) was organized for the students of classes 3 to 5 on the 25th of April 2024.In this activity, all the students read a book of their interest along with their class teacher.
The activity encouraged the students to set aside time to read every day. The goal of “Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)” was to cultivate love for reading, improve reading skills and to create a culture of literacy within the school community. The aim was to make reading enjoyable and accessible to all students, regardless of their reading level or interests.
In conclusion, students were asked to narrate the summary and explain the moral of the story they read.
Principal, Ma’am Seema Sehajpal encouraged the students to read a story from a book everyday which will enhance their vocabulary as well as the grammatical skills which would further improve their speaking skills.
Overall, it was an engrossing and a learning experience for the students.
