The only way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics.”
We, at DHS believe that understanding shapes will enable our students to be more in tune with the world around them, comprehend the connections between objects and explore various interactive activities related to them. The ability to accurately identify shapes is a foundational mathematical skill and it is quite rewarding for children as their world is full of shapes. Keeping this in view an Activity – Fun with Shapes was organized for the students of Grade 3. Students made different figures using shapes cutouts. These figures included animals / means of transport like cat, caterpillar, fish, dog, truck, trains, house, robot etc. These activities encourage creativity and understanding of geometric concepts.
Learning is alive when it is experiential and joyful. Students participated with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The activity sparked their innate skill of responsibility, innovation and creativity.
Principal Seema Sehajpal encouraged the students to visualize shapes in everyday life, highlighting their relevance beyond the classroom. She also resonated with the students, inspiring them to perceive shapes as more than abstract mathematical entities.
