Under the Capacity Building Programme of CBSE, a workshop on storytelling as pedagogy was successfully held at Dharav High School, Jaipur on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Renowned resource persons, Kamaljeet Yadav, Principal of Subodh Public School, and Anjana Handoo, PGT English from MGD School, led the engaging session.
The workshop aimed to equip teachers with effective storytelling techniques to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. The session covered the art of crafting compelling stories, using props, and encouraging student participation.
Anjana Handoo added, “Storytelling is an essential skill for teachers to develop. It helps build emotional connections with students and makes complex concepts more accessible.” Telling students a story places ideas in a broader context, providing a richer understanding and creating a durable memory - we remember in context, and we forget isolated facts. When instructors tell stories, they create a link between theory, what they would like students to know, and application - how theory plays out, in a memorable way.
The workshop received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, who praised the resource persons for their expertise and enthusiasm.
