A group of students of Dharav High School experienced a day of thrill, adventure and learning at the 27th Indian Birding Fair organised on February 9, 2024 at Man Sagar Lake, Jaipur.
Experienced ornithologists guided students through the process of identifying different bird species based on their distinctive features and calls. Armed with binoculars and field guides, the students scanned the surrounding trees and lakes for Indian Spot Billed Duck, Egret, Pan Duck (laughing Dove), Kingfisher, Black-winged Stilt, Great Cormorant and Grey Francolin. After bird watching, students attended the session on conservation of birds where they learned about the importance of preserving bird habitats and protecting bird species. Students were inspired to become stewards of environmental conservation.
Next, students displayed their artistic talent in the live drawing competition organized at Tourism and Wildlife Society of India.
The birding fair not only provided the students with valuable knowledge about conservation but also ignited in them a spark of curiosity for the natural world.
The school Principal, Ms. Seema Sehajpal, encouraged the students to contemplate the current condition of the earth and urged them to contribute to making our planet a better place, aligning with the spirit of the birding fair.
