Biomimicry Session by 'Pencil Box' on World Creativity and Innovation Day at Sapt Shakti Nature’s Park
‘Biomimicry is a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges—and find hope’
Students of Dharav High School, Jaipur participated in a Biomimicry session organised by the 'Pencil Box' on the occasion of World Creativity and Innovation Day at Sapt Shakti Nature’s Park on April 21,2023. Mr. Anurag, founder of the Pencil Box explained to students that biomimicry is emulation of nature for the purpose of solving complex human problems. The students observed the trees, birds and the pond to understand nature, for what we can learn, not what we can extract, harvest, or domesticate. On close observation of the surrounding, they realised that it develops a connect with nature which is somehow lost in the hustle-bustle of life. They emulated forms, shapes, processes and mechanisms to design innovative ideas to use sustainability for a better world. The two and a half hour session in the park surveying nature made the students realise how important it is to value nature, the greatest teacher.
